About the Artist

Kamilah's work exists at the intersection of cultural memory and future possibility. Through the lense of afro-modernist expressionism, she creates intricate wearable artwork that honors ancestral aesthetics while imagining new forms of adornment. Her hands have formed each piece while focusing on complexity, luxury, and intentional detail. Her hope is that her work gives the wearer a feeling of empowerment, identity, and exclusivity.

Exploring Adornment as Identity

I pour my heart and voice into every piece that I design. My identity is coded into my inspiration. This art is wound so tightly into my being that it is a visual expression of my DNA. When it speaks to the wearer it does not whisper or faint, it roars loudly above all of the noise, so loudly that it is unmistakeable.

Form, Texture, Color, Purpose and Presence

Taking a raw material and breathing beauty into it is a gift that I do not take for granted. It gives me an incredible sense of meaning and pride to give something so tangible its form, texture, color, purpose, and presence. My God given gifts to share, to contribute, to bring beauty into this sometimes harsh world.
